Notes

In 1926, the artist traveled with Eric Brown, the Director of the National Gallery of Canada and his wife, Maud, from their homes in Ottawa to Nova Scotia. It was her first time in the Maritimes and this trip instilled a growing confidence and maturity in her work.

This wonderful, anecdotal panel demonstrates MacLeod's strength with domestic subjects, and her sensitivity to light, colour and composition.
