Conditions of Sale

Condition Reports
These can usually be provided prior to the commencement of the sale. Any questions regarding condition must be resolved to the buyer's satisfaction before leaving a bid.
Condition reports should be considered opinion only and the purchaser should satisfy themselves as to whether or not in their own judgement, the lot accords with the description or indeed their expectations.
Overseas buyers must not bid on large bulky or fragile items unless they intend to use a courier or a service like Pack and Send., which can be expensive for heavy large items.
Digital Photographs
We can email digital images of any lot prior to the sale. This is a complimentary service. This only available up until 24 hours before auction start time.
Bidding
Before bidding prospective buyers are required to register. You will be asked to provide your name, address and telephone number, and will then be given a bidding number. This numbered bidding system ensures client confidentiality and the information will be used for accounting purposes only. Proof of identity will be required, i.e. Drivers licence, upon registering.
By Absentee Bid
If you are unable to attend the Sale, you can leave a bid in your absence. Absentee bidding forms are available and should be submitted in person, by email or fax prior to the auction (we will try to place bids on the auctioneer's sale sheets after the start of the auction but cannot guarantee the execution of bids).
We always try to buy the lot for as little as possible subject to competition from other bidders. If there are two identical bids, the first one received by Lugosi Auctioneers will take precedence.
In some instances depending on the amount and/or quantity of the commission bid(s) and whether or not you are a regular customer, we may ask for credit or debit card details to guarantee your bid(s). We will not process the card unless you fail to pay for the items after
seven days from the date of the Sale. As an absentee bidder should you be successful we will contact you after the auction has ended.
Please note that if you are successful in your bid, the lot(s) must be paid for and collected by 4pm the day following the auction. Unless alternative arrangements have been made with us, storage charges will be levied until payment/collection takes place. The onus is therefore as much on the bidder as the auctioneer to check on the status of their bids and to complete the transaction.
By Telephone
Telephone bidding is available during auctions for those who cannot attend but who want to bid 'live' at the sale. Please contact us as early as possible if you would like to arrange a line, which are reserved on a 'first come, first served' basis. We will telephone you approximately several lots prior to the relevant lot to ensure a good connection (especially mobiles/international). We recommend a back up telephone number and a cover bid in case we cannot reach you by telephone. Telephone bidding is usually reserved for higher value lots and at Lugosi Auctioneer's discretion.

Good must be collected by 1pm the following day, when the auction is performed 'On-Site'. If the auction is conducted in rooms, the goods must be collected within forty eight hours from the end of the sale. We can provide the name of a carrier if required.
Any goods not collected within the stipulated time after the auction will be charged a storage charge of $10.00 per lot per day unless alternative arrangements have been made. This applies to all buyers, whether they bid in person, by commission or by telephone or internet bidders.
Packing and Shipping
Buyers must arrange their own carriers for the removal of large items such as furniture, paintings, etc. We are happy to recommend local carriers. The buyer is responsible for any and all costs. For overseas clients Pack and Send are able to pack fragile & valuable antiques from small to very large items and arrange delivery.
For local and interstate buyers small items can be packed and posted at the buyer's risk. A small charge will be made for time and materials. Please ask for an estimate for postage and packing prior to bidding, as once a lot is purchased the cost is the sole responsibility of the buyer no matter the cost. Internet bidders must pay all delivery/postal charges before goods will be despatched.
