Patrick Faigenbaum, known for his intimate portraits, says of this photograph, 'C'est l'image clé dans mon travail. Elle est toujours dans mon esprit et encore aujourd'hui détermine mes recherches. Cette photographie représente ma mère dans sa chambre à coucher. Il était 11 heures du soir. Nous habitions alors prés de la Gare de Lyon, à Paris. [This is the key image in my work. It is always in my mind and even today determines the way I work. This photograph is of my mother in her bedroom. It was 11 p. m. We were living then near the Gare de Lyon, in Paris.]' The print offered here was made by the photographer especially for the Quillan Collection. Aside from this photograph, there are only six other signed prints of this image.
