Lot 15: Pat Passlof original oil on canvas "Springs" (36"W x 33"H), signed on lower left "Passlof 59." This rare example of her early work was displayed at an art show at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and purchased through the Forrest Gallery in 1973 and descended through the Stevens Family to auction. Ms. Passlof was long considered among the foremost "second generation" of Abstract Expressionist painters. She studied under Willem de Kooning and received her degree from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1952. Her husband, Milton Resnick, also influenced her works. Elizabeth Harris Gallery in New York has comparable paintings for sale for $40,000-50,000. Our estimate for this piece is between $10,000-$15,000.
