Notes

A Venezuelan of Italian extraction, Paolo Gasparini moved to Cuba in the first years of the Revolution. From 1962 to 1965, he documented the achievements of the regime. Back in Europe, he tried without success to publish this enthusiastic account of the Cuban revolution. This maquette was used to present the project to various publishers, and is unique. Editions du Toucan in Paris finally published Le ciel est dans la rue, long after the illusions of the Cuban revolution had evaporated.
