Cette paire de consoles en bois sculpté rechampi blanc, aux formes rectilignes, s'agrémente en ceinture d'un masque flanqué de palmettes rehaussé d'or. Deux couronnes de lauriers, également dorées, sont aux angles. Les montants antérieurs simulent deux colonnes torses tandis que ceux présents à l'arrière, droits, sont ornés de branchages. La base échancrée est peinte à l'imitation du marbre Portor pour reprendre le matériau du plateau qui les coiffe. Outre l'élégance créée par les couleurs blanches et ors employées, cette paire de consoles tire toute sa rareté des motifs ornementaux qui l'agrémentent et qui sont directement issu du Recueil des dessins d'ornements d'architecture de la manufacture de Joseph Beunat à Sarrebourg et à Paris, rue Napoléon, N°II, contenant tout ce qui a rapport à la décoration des appartements, tels que panneaux, dessus de portes, dessus de glaces, frises, pilastres, montants, rosaces, entablements, moulures, écoinçons, modillons, etc. publié en 1812. On observe ainsi sur la planche 16 le même motif visible
au centre de la ceinture. Il en va de même pour la couronne
de lauriers que l'on retrouve sur la planche 51 ou encore les branchages s'échappant d'un vase situés sur les montants arrière sur la planche 2 et 32. Joseph Beunat créa sa manufacture en 1805 à Sarrebourg en Moselle. Il est probable que celui-ci ait effectué un voyage en Angleterre où il aurait appris le secret de fabrication du décor au mastic et, à son retour en France, s'octroya un brevet d'invention. Il fut surtout l'un des premiers à publier un catalogue d'ornements (destinés à être réalisés en mastic-pierre) dont le début de parution commença en 1810. Ce recueil n'indique pas l'auteur des modèles mais plusieurs planches sont signées de la main de différents sculpteurs, graveurs ou architectes comme Normand ou Montferrand, très liés au milieu artistique néoclassique et travaillant dans l'entourage de Percier et Fontaine.

Purchasers pay in addition to the hammer price, a buyer's premium from 0 to e 500 000:
25,20% (21 % + VAT).
For amounts superior to e 500 000: 19% (15,83% + VAT).
Lots from outside the EEC: (indentified by an*). In addition to the commissions and taxes indicated above, an additional import VAT will be charged (7% of the hammer price, 20% for jewelry).
For any member of the EEC, non assembled stones are liable to VAT 20%.
The auctioneer is bound by the indications in the catalogue, modified only by eventual announcements made at the time of the sale noted into the legal records thereof. Prospective bidders should inspect the property before bidding to determine its condition, size, and wether or not it has been repaired, restored or repainted. Exhibitions prior to the sale at Marc-Arthur Kohn or on the sale point permits buyers to establish the condition of the works offered for sale, and therefore no claims will be accepted after the fall of the hammer. BIDS
