Description

OOC - Portrait of the Ship 'Helena', a Three-Masted Staysail Schooner, by Samuel Badger, signed lr and on reverse with his Charlestown, Mass address. The Helena was built in Bath, Maine in 1900 for Capt. Charles Hodgkins, washed up on Humarock Beach off Sciuate, Mass on Jan 31, 1909 for a total loss. It descended in the family from his sister Rose. In original gilded gesso deep cove frame, SS: 22" x 36", OS: 29" x 42", in fine untouched condition other than 1/2" vertical tear lr in water.
