Description

* Oda (Kazuma, 1882-1956). The Great Bridge at Matsue, 1924, colour woodblock, pub. Shosaburo Watanabe, Tokyo, some pale toning, image size 23.5 x 36 cm, sheet size 26 x 39 cm, framed and glazed. One of the Founders of the Sosaku Hanga movement, which included Watanabe and Saito, Kazuma Oda was much influenced (like many of his contemporaries), by the new French printmakers such as Toulouse-Lautrec and Bonnard. The present work is described and illustrated in Lawrence Smith, The Japanese Print Since 1900, pub. British Museum, 1983, no. 70. (1)
