Octavius Oakley OWS (1800-1867) Portrait of Sir George Howland Willoughby Beaumont Bt, seated in a red armchair Inscribed with the artist's and sitter's name on the mount, extensively inscribed on an old catalogue entry verso, a further inscription on an old label, pencil and watercolour, 22cm by 16cm; Two further drawings, one portraying a child wearing Victorian costume, holding a sword and standing beside a rocking horse, pastel on buff paper, 18.5cm by 14.5cm, and a drawing of a military gentleman, signed and dated B Baldwin 1846, said to be Lt John Baldwin, 22nd Foot, vignette, 20.5cm by 15.5cm (3) Sir George Howland Willoughby Beaumont, 8th Bart (1799-1845) was the cousin of Sir George Beaumont, a friend of John Constable and other artists, scholars and gentlemen. The drawing was purchased at Sotheby's on 16th October 1980.
