NOEL LAURA NISBET (1887-1956) Dryads in flight, with fawn in a spring pastoral garden, signed, oils on canvas, 23 1/2" x 23 1/2" Note: The work has some compositional similarities to Nisbet's composition Startled (see Christie's London sale catalogue, From the Studios of the late Harry Bush and Noel Laura Nisbet, Friday 28 September 1984, Lot 142) exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1935 (no.137). Another work Wood Nymphs in Flight (no.680) was exhibited the previous year at the Academy (1934) which could also relate to this picture, but no images have yet been found to compare.
