From the series entitled 'Dark Age', the following Lot presents Niti Wattuya's initial true love for water themes and particularly the riverscape.
Showcasing Bangkok's Chao Phraya river- a significant source of inspiration to the artist- Man, Gold and River represents Niti's emotionally-charged aesthetic response to beauty, tinted with oriental spiritualism.
Imbued by vaporous texture created through the use of scintillating gold and red tones, the painting intends to reflect on the straying condition of Thailand and on the absence of Truth; the result of a constant, ever-evolving society. The ethereal silhouettes evoke, metaphorically, vehicles for the darkened human condition, distanced from the majestic 'Mae-Nam', or Mother-River, source of virtue and life.
