As the series title Acid Bloom suggests, Ninagawa's Pop images of flowers are intoxicating. She writes: 'For me, the process of photographing a flower is something more, something that goes beyond a flower. When I'm photographing well, I am always floating on another plane -- a place between this world and the world beyond.' (Acid Bloom, n.p.) Ninagawa is the 2001 recipient of Japan's prestigious Kimura Ihee Award and is widely published.
