Notes

The Expressionist green, brown and gold strokes of the present work evoke the spirit of rebirth implied by the title, Spring, the blue strokes lending the work an overriding structure with their geometrical angularity. This swirling, vibrant explosion of colour appears to be built on a quintessentially-Greek pediment, locating the work in Greek culture and playing with notions of architectural structure and apparently abstract movement.
