Notes

The composition of this painting is comparable to two works by Jeaurat de Bertry, one in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris (signed and dated 1756) and another in the Musée de Blois.(1) All show a strong diagonal line traversing the composition and a similar arrangement of musical instruments in front of a neutral background.
