Notes

Jacob was a pupil of Jacques-Louis David. He first exhibited at the Salon of 1802 and continued to do so until 1865. In 1805 he travelled in Italy as personal drawing master to Eugène de Beauharnais. Jacob established his own drawing academy in Paris in 1835.
