Infanta Maria Isabella of Spain (1789-1848), in white-embroidered blue dress, white sleeves embroidered with blue lozenges, white belt suspended with the Royal Spanish Order of Maria Luisa, white gauze shawl draped over her arms, sheaves of corn in her upswept fair hair dressed in ringlets
signed and dated 'Dun. 1802' (lower left)
on ivory

Infanta Maria Isabella of Spain (1789-1848) was a daughter of King Charles IV of Spain (1748-1808) and Maria Louisa of Parma (1751-1819) and was a granddaughter of King Louis XV of France. She married her cousin, Prince Francis of Naples and Sicily (1777-1830) and they had twelve children. Their oldest son, Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies (1810-1859), ascended to the throne in 1830.
