NICOLA VACCARO NAPLES 1640 - 1709 HOLY FAMILY WITH THE INFANT SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST oil on canvas, unframed 133 by 95.8 cm.; 52 1/2 by 37 3/4 in.

This is an early work by Nicola Vaccaro, closely comparable in style and handling to the several versions of the same subject dated by Mariaclaudia Izzo to the 1660s (see M. Izzo, Nicola Vaccaro, Todi 2009, pp. 159-60, cat. nos. A9-A9c). The attribution is due to Dottssa. Mariaclaudia Izzo and Dr. Erich Schleier, to whom we are grateful, on the basis of photographs.
