There are a collection of symbols in this poster that advertise the many excursions to the 1939 Fair: the World Fair's Trylon and Perisphere, the Manhattan skyline, and the U.S. and Dutch flags. The ship, the Nieuw Amsterdam had just gone into service the year of this poster and was in Venezuela when the Germans overran Holland in 1940. She then served as an Allied troop transport during the war.
