THE PROPERTY OF A LADY

For the attribution compare Neri di Bicci's Tobias and the Archangel Raphael offered in New York, Christie's, 23 January 2004, lot 39. This pair of panels probably once formed part of the wings of a triptych, the central panel of which probably showed The Annunciation and thus completed representations of the three Archangels. The panels probably date from the 1480s and are therefore late works by the artist.
