NOTE

We are grateful to Everett Fahy who, based on first hand inspection, has identified the present work to be by Rosselli.

Rosselli was a student of Neri di Bicci, whose studio he entered at the age of ten, and a cousin of Cosimo Rosselli . By 1488 Rosselli seemed to be an independant artist and received a commission to decorate three walls and the ceiling of the Sala de' Signori in the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. Rosselli is recorded in the artist's guild of Saint Luke and was a member of the Company of S. Zenobi.
