Lot 76: Mrs. Susan Penelope Rosse (British, c.1652-1700)

The present lot would appear to derive from one of the many enamel miniatures of Louis by Jean Petitot (cf. The Portrait Miniatures in the Collections of the House of Orange Nassau, p.223, no.221 (collection no. m485/3)). It shows the characteristic pouting lower lip and dark highlight of Rosse's work and also her ability to work on a very small scale.
