A Lady, seated in an interior, wearing mauve open robe with gold trim over coral coloured dress held with belt, pearl jewellery and coloured headdress, she holds an embroidered golden yellow shawl in her right hand and incense burner in her left, urn of flowers and red curtain in the background.
Signed on the reverse A Turkish Girl/ by Mυrs Turnbull/ 15 Grafton Street East/ London University/ No 1, gilt-mounted within brown leather travelling case.

Born, Anne Charlotte Fayerman, at the time of this portrait, the artist was married to Mr Walter Turnbull who died in 1838. Later that same year, she married the artist Valentine Bartholomew (British, 1799-1879).
