Notes

Yang Wencong (1596-1646), whose style name was Longyou, was from Guizhou and later moved to Jinling (Nanjing). He gained the juren degree in 1619 and became a discipline officer in Huating town in 1634. He later was named mayor of the towns of Qingtian, Jiangning, and Yongjia. Yang Wencong was erudite and good at landscape painting. He was known as one of the “Nine Friends in Painting”.
