Notes

Griffith was born in Wales and largely self-taught, from 1769 he was employed as a drawing man-servant to Thomas Pennant. He accompanied his master on numerous tours around the British Isles including Scotland, Yorkshire, and the Isle of Man. The Welsh Bridge is a bridge at Shrewsbury which crosses the River Severn and links Frankwell with the town centre.
