8vo (7 3/8 x 4 3/4 in.; 187 x 121 mm). A fine bright copy. Original brown paper boards, printed paper spine label; joint of upper board cracked near head of spine, minor losses to foot of spine. Blue cloth chemise and slipcase.

NOTE

First appearnce of "A Visit from St. Nicholas" in an anthology of Moore's own verse, and considered the definitive edition. Presentation copy, a fine New York association, inscribed on the half-title: "To | Miss Julia Rhinelander | With the respects | of the author. | Augt 11, 1849." Julia Rhinelander was the daughter of the prominent and wealthy New York scion, William C. Rhinelander.
