Manuscript Document Signed ("J Bourdon Dautray") and by the notary Antoine Adhemar, 1 p, 8vo, [Montréal], September 23, 1675, in French, acknowledging the payment of monies owed to D'Autray by his tenants. Old folds, slight bleed through.

RARE EXAMPLE OF THE SIGNATURE OF ONE OF SIEUR DE LA SALLE'S TRUSTED LIEUTENANTS. D'Autray entered La Salle's service in 1675, and became one of his trusted associates. He was with La Salle during the expedition down the Mississippi to the Gulf in 1682 and was a signatory to the document claiming the Mississippi basin for France.
