The documentation accompanying the painting describes the actions of the ancestor Napakulangu. He brought the Water Dreaming to this land and cut the country in half as indicated by the central meandering line representing a sandhill. The circles around the edges of the painting represent soakages and waterholes, while the central areas are swamps, or warren, where the waters collect.
