Lot 22: Michael Jonathan Salaman (British, born 1911)

Player down injured oil on canvas 55 by 65 cm. (21 1/2 by 25 1/2 in.) Michael Salaman was born on 8th May 1911 at Porlock in Somerset. He studied art at the Slade School, and in Paris at the Academie Ranson. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the London Group and Leicester Galleries. A retrospective exhibition was held at the Morley Gallery in 1975. His work is represented in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the South London Gallery. He was a teacher at the Royal Academy Schools, Chelsea School of Art and Camberwell Scholl of Arts and Crafts, and lived and worked in London.
