Notes

Arthur C Michael was a prolific painter and etcher who worked mainly in watercolour. He illustrated many periodicals and books and designed several posters for the LNER. Here we see his depiction of the heyday of golfing as a leisure pursuit for the middle and upper classes. St.Andrews course, arguably the best, is depicted here as 'The Home of the Royal and Ancient Game' and is the top attraction for this resort to the present day.

This lot is subject to storage and collection charges.
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
