Mel Fowler (American, 1921-1987,) two sculptures, consisting of "Apollo and Python II", a Llano marble sculpture, 1977, edition 1/1, signed "Mel 77", mounted on a shaped verde antico marble base bearing brass title plaque, overall h. 11-1/2", w. 9". Exhibited: Abilene Fine Arts Museum (one-man show), November 5 through November 27, 1977; and "Leda and the Swan III", a Van Horn black steatite sculpture, 1982, edition 1/1, signed "Mel 82", mounted on a shaped black marble base bearing brass title plaque, overall h. 9", w. 6-3/4". Provenance: The estates of David and Eula Wintermann. The first example accompanied by the original bill of sale from Mel Fowler dated April 3, 1984, and the second example accompanied by the original bill of sale from Mel Fowler dated May 1, 1983.
