David McKee (b. 1935), author and illustrator, created Mr Benn, King Rollo and, more recently, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant. Over 20 volumes in the Elmer series have been published since 1989, including Elmer in the Snow (first published in 1995) for which this illustration appears on pages 14 and 15.
