Barbara McClintock is one of the most admired and honored of contemporary American children's book illustrators. Her work has been named as one of the New York Times Notable Books of the Year and four times as among the New York Times Ten Best Illustrated Children's Books. She has also received a Boston Globe/Horn Book Honor Award. She has drawn inspiration from J.-J. Grandville, Maurice Sendak and other classic illustrators.
