Notes

Few works by Robinson are recorded. He preferred to exhibit at the Royal Society of British Artists rather than the Royal Academy. As the Art Journal of 1863 observed there is a clear derivation of his subjects from Dutch seventeenth century works, through the school of David Wilkie; a tradition embellished by Thomas Webster and the Cranbrook Colony, whose work the Chelsea based Robinson would undoubtedly have seen.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis
