Description

Ink on paper. Japan, 18th - 19th centuryIn Goshu's painting the bamboo is only painted with ink. The bamboo stalk is depicted on the left side, growing straight towards the light. Perfectly used shades and wash technique, just excellent! Few bamboo leaves, sparely painted to lighten the precise composition. The mounting with a grid pattern that is perfectly adapted to the motif. Signed to the lower left GOSHUN 呉春, and sealed GOSHUN no in 呉春之印 (seal of). Goshun was the founder of the Shijo school. HE was a student of Buson, but later dedicated to the realism of Marumaya Okyo. His family name is "Matsumura".
