Masaaki Yamada is an unprecedented artist in the Japanese Post-War movement towards abstraction. As an artist, Yamada forms an interesting bonding with his works, as he projects his intellectual and meditative thinking to the execution of the lines. In Work D.47 (1970), the artist presents a graceful composition of medallion yellow and ochre, along with a hint of light blue from the lower layers. These colors are delicately arranged by Yamada's thoughtful artistic thinking, rendering a harmonious balance throughout the canvas.

山田正亮為日本戰後抽象藝術浪潮中最具有獨創性的藝術家。他在二次大戰後，便在繪畫上尋求內心的安寧，也找尋創作的突破性。他最著名的繪畫特色為重複性的手法以及顏色的掌握度。《Work D.47》畫面上金色與褐黃色和諧地並列呈現，亦可發現底層有些許青藍色系若隱若現。山田將經思考過後的顏色組合帶出了整體性的平衡感，使其散發出精緻迷人的質感。
