Notes

Rupert the Bear was created by Mary Tourtel for the Daily Express in 1920 as a rival to the Daily Mail's 'Teddy Tale', and he very quickly became a popular favourite. Starting with 'The Adventures of a Little Lost Bear', Tourtel continued these daily cartoons until 1935 when her eyesight failed and Alfred Bestall took over.

The illustrations in this lot, together with their captions, all date from 1924 and come from two separate story lines: 'Rupert and Bingo' and 'Rupert's Seaside Holiday'.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
This lot is subject to storage and collection charges.
