Description

Martin Jacoby-Boy, German 1883-1971- Mythological bird over a temple; pen and black ink and watercolour, signed with monogram, 8.5x14cm., (mounted) (unframed). Note: The artist studied at Kunstschule in Berlin circa 1902 where he was associated with the Die Brucke and Neue Sachlichkeit art movements. Joined the Deutscher Werkbund in 1912 and worked for the Deutsches Theatre where he met the German film director Friedrich Murnau. Two works exhibited at the Darmstadt 1904 Posters Exhibition. He is later to work with the film directors Joe May and Fritz Lang and worked on projects in architecture between 1923-1933. See Martin Jacoby-Booy, Expressionist Film Architect
