An extremely rare and unique work by the avant-garde German ceramic artist, Margot Kempe, circa 1930-35, featuring a sculpture, in the cubist-constructivist manner, of a flautist. This work is composed of an intensely granular and combed sediment-brown stoneware and exhibits a stark interplay of primary forms, from the cone to the cube, from the rectangle to the triangle...in various perpendicular and parallel configurations. Incised "KEMPE." Approximately 48" X 28 X 25 cm". Mint condition.
