Notes

Margaret Crilley arrived in Dublin in 1905 to study under Orpen at the Metropolitan School of Art, where she became Orpen's student assistant. In 1914 she married the stained-glass artist Harry Clarke (1889-1931). She continued to paint and exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy for nearly fifty years.
