Notes

We have not been able to connect this Resurrection with any known works by Marco Pino. The drawing possibly dates from the artist's first period in Rome where he arrived from Siena 'a tentar fortuna' in 1544. The style of early drawings such as this appears less mannered than in his later period and somehow still reminiscent of Perino for whom he worked, decorating scenes in the vault of the Sala Paolina in Castel Sant' Angelo, Rome (payments in 1546). The present drawing must date to a later moment, possibly in the middle of the century.
