After graduating from the University of California, Santa Cruz, Marc Dalessio moved to Florence, Italy, where he studied for eight years at the Ill Bisonte International School of Graphic Arts, earning a Masters in printmaking. He stayed in Florence to study and teach in Charles Cecil Studios and the Florence Academy of Art, opening his own atelier, Donatello, 31, on the edge of Florence's historic district. He travels the world to paint en plein air, and has visited Long Island, New York, regularly since 2000. Lake in Connecticut and Wheat Field Below Montefalco (lot 62) demonstrate the artist at the height of his abilities as he masterfully captures the light infused landscapes with a vibrant palette and swift, expressive brushwork to create scenes of timeless beauty.
