MARAK Julius Edvard (21. 3. 1832 Litomysl - 8. 10. 1899 Prague) Four drawings from a sketch-book Pencil drawing on both sides, framed, glazed, 21 x 18 cm, undated, unsigned, probate stamp, restitution from the National Gallery no. K 39 549, ex collection Rudolf Rysavy. Czech Neoromantic landscape painter, pupil of M. Haushofer at the Prague Academy of Arts and of C. Rottmann and E. Schleich in Munich. Some of his pupils, e.g. A. Slavicek, A. Kalvoda, F. Kavan and O. Lebeda, became leading figures of the new generation of artists concerned with issues of Symbolism or Impressionist landscape painting.
