Charleson was born in Manitoba but is best known in the United States for his many paintings and illustrations of industrial themes, particularly in the 1930s. This work was commissioned by the Industrial Accident Prevention Association for their annual calendar and raffeled off at a Saftey Convention in Toronto in 1939.
