NOTE

Born in London, Farthing studied at St Martin's School of Art, The Royal College of Art and the British School in Rome. In 1989 he was the Hayward Gallery's artist in residence and he has taught at the Canterbury Collece of Art, and The Royal College of Art. He was elected Ruskin Master at the Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing in 1990 and became a Royal Academician in 1998.
