Lucile Land Lacy studied art under Ellen Douglas Stuart and Ella Mewhinney. She received her Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1940. From 1924 to 1931 she was an instructor at the Baylor Female College, Belton, Texas, and from 1932 to 1944 she was named head of the art department. She was well-exhibited locally and nationally in the 1930s and 1940s.

This lithograph graphically depicts the effects of the extreme heat of Texas summers before air conditioning was common.
