Louisiana Federal Walnut Armoire, c. 1825,
now fitted as a bookcase, with an ogee crown with canted corners, flame veneer frieze and lower entablature, over double glazed doors, opening to an interior with original belt of three drawers and original cypress shelves fronted in walnut, flush panel sides, chamfered stiles into slender turned beehive legs on four brass ball feet, brass fiche hinges and pressed brass eagle escutcheons,

Structurally sound, mellow rich older finish, some abrasions, marks and toning in finish, scattered shrinkages, where joined and up sides of case, some with separation, some with infill, several veneer tears and veneer lifting, scattered patches, repairs, and touch up, mostly around the entablature and sides of that area, scattered chips to carved edges, around crown, scattered indentations and imperfections consistent with age and use, the door panels have been replaced with glass, there is a loss to the back of the proper left back legs lamination. A rare handsome offering.
