Louisa Anne (née Stuart), Marchioness of Waterford (1818-1891) "They were Shepherds Watching their Flocks by Night" Extensively inscribed on various period labels, watercolour, 14.5cm by 40.5cm Exhibited at the Royal Academy Exhibition (works by the Old Masters 1893), and Exhibition of Pictures by the Late Louisa Marchioness of Waterford Ex. collection Sir R. Talbot Provenance: J.S. Maas & Co Ltd, 15a Clifford Street, London Brought up in Paris, where her father was British Ambassador to the French Court. Married the 3rd Marquess of Waterford and had an interest in the welfare of the tenants on her Northumberland estate, rebuilding the village of Ford and providing a school. She started a temperance society in the village.
