Description

Louis XV Marble-top Tulipwood- and Kingwood-veneered Petite Commode, Paris, marked "LARDIN" at each corner for André Antoine Lardin (1724-1790), with additional "ME" guild mark to one side, serpentine, with three drawers each with crossbanding and string-inlaid veneers, ormolu hardware, and a pendant apron, raised on sabot-mounted feet, ht. 33, wd. 35, dp. 16 in.

N.B. Lardin (maître, 1750) was particularly respected for the quality of his veneers.

Condition Report

Marble possibly later. Hardware not original, one mount to foot loose (lacking nails). Scattered lifting, losses, cracking, and restorations to veneer. Refinished.
