Item Overview

Description

This painting measures 31 ½ L X 23 ½ W and comes with a letter written by the artist Robert Dash (1931–2013), as well as other written correspondence by the National Conservacy in East Hampton, New York. Robert Dash was the beloved Sagaponack (Long Island, NY) artist, writer, gardener and creator of the Madoo Conservancy. This abstract painting of Long Island and a Bay is framed behind glass with a wire in the back ready for hanging. Dash had a strong interest in abstract expressionist artists such as Willem de Kooning. He has exhibited in one-man shows in major American art galleries, as well as in Holland and England. His works are featured in collections at the Modern Art Museum in Munich, the Guggenheim Museum; and, the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Dash is known for his abstract landscape painting, teaching, and as a garden conservancy organizer. His choice of media is acrylic and oil paint. Robert Dash’s subjects were Gardens, Garden Scenes and, interior scenes, albeit, usually in an abstract form. He lived in Long Island, New York and Italy. His creation, the Madoo Conservancy still exists in New York where visitors are invited for an admission fee. The Madoo Conservancy presents a microcosm that flows along walking paths through different aspects of a 2-acre plot of land, all the while focusing on the plant life that Dash cultivated since the garden's conception in 1967. Dash's garden presents a fundamental attitude -- plants are the dominating forms, structures are secondary. Robert Dash’s Painting "Going to the Beach" is on sale on IstDibs for $11,000 and another one of his paintings sold on INVALUABLE for $9,375.
