HOLLAR, and 12 plates (8 double-page on guards, 4 folding), all but one by Hollar, engraved illustration on Z1v, engraved vignettes of coins (lacking engraved portrait of Ogilby, discreet repairs to a few plates, plates trimmed occasionally affecting plate mark and image). Modern maroon morocco gilt, title gilt-lettered on front cover, gilt edges (some minor rubbing).

Ogilby's account of CHARLES II'S (1630-1685) return to London for his coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1661, thus restoring the monarchy to the throne in Britain after several years of rule by Oliver Cromwell. The first five plates, each double-page and in four horizontal rows, form a panorama of Charles II's coronation procession. The additional double-page plates illustrate the trophies of Marius, a procession on foot in six horizontal rows, and the choir at Westminster Abbey filled with spectators, while the four single-page plates depict triumphal archways erected for the occasion. In addition to descriptions of the archways, a short narrative of the coronation is included in which the order of the procession is listed as well as the order of the ceremony.
